Why am I being charged tax?

Toolsforless is owned and operated by Valley National Gases LLC which has retail stores in many states. Valley National Gases is required to charge all applicable state and local sales tax on order shipped to states where we have a physical presence which includes stores, distribution centers and production plants. Some taxing authorities also require the taxable amount to include shipping charges, while others charge sales tax only on merchandise. We are required to follow the rules of each state. No sales tax is charged when buying gift certificates.
