Why am I being charged tax?

Toolsforless is operated by Valley National Gases, Inc., which has retail stores in many states. Valley is required to charge all applicable state and local sales tax on orders shipped to states where we have a physical presence which includes stores, distribution centers and production plants.

We have a physical presence in the following states:



Some taxing authorities also require the taxable amount to include shipping charges, while others charge sales tax only on merchandise. We are required to follow the rules of each state.

Will you accommodate my tax-exempt order?

We are not able to accept tax exempt purchases on our website. For tax exemption, you should be able to claim a refund from the state since you paid tax on this order. We are very sorry that we do not have the means to set up tax exempt status for customers but we found in our retail stores that the state will contest exemptions that we approved, leaving us with a liability that had to be paid. When we were required to implement tax collection on the website, we decided to follow the rules we use in our stores and to direct customers who should be exempt to file with the state for their refunds.
